Downgrade iPhone firmware 3.1.3 to 3.1.2

Hello, ... excuse my english
this is method to downgrade iPhone 3GS fw 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 for those who dont have SHSH saved in saurik server, just follow:
1- download files:
3GS 05.11.07: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PNGIDWOH work with my 3GS bb:05.11.07, 2511 downloads and no comments ???!
2- put your iphone in recovery mode.
3- restore with iTunes, don't worry about apple verify SHSH.
4- ding your iPhone start with fw 3.1.2 .... magic
5- Jailbreak with blackra1n or redsn0w, if Blackra1n don't work try redsn0w to jailbreak and blacksn0w from cydia to unlock.
-:::-
Update 3GS 05.11.07 to 3.1.3:

1- download and restore with this File
2- Add this source in cydia : cydia.pushfix.info/
3- install blacksn0w RC2 final from pushfix source to unlock.
thats all.
work with my 3GS 05.11.07.
-:::-
3GS 05.12.01 : for downgrade the Baseband ther is one way, but i cant realize it in this instant, i give you the way and for you to try, who know maybe we find a solution:
1- Download this files: MDM_Custom_IPSW or Jailbreak with Spirit JBBBUpdater.rar
2- Unrar files in your pc then copy/send them by bluetooth or explorer, and put them in tmp or User directory in your iphone.
3- install Mobile terminal and if you need ifile with cydia.
4- run mobile terminal and type :
- root
- alpine
- cd /(folder where you put the files)
- chmod 755 BBUpdaterExtreme (respect case)
- launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist (run it each reboot)
- ./BBUpdaterExtreme update -f ICE2_05.11.07.fls -e ICE2_05.11.07.eep
- dont make chage in eep file its the same with one in 05.12.01, you can modify carfully the fls file and gently with ultraedit or other tools.

-
finally just say thanks
This is a hard work, stay cool with me guys and think different

  1. hope this is not another fake..

I believe apple does strong protection.. but every lock has a key :)

    Cheers and I'm waiting too.

  2. Does this work for the new firmware??

  3. Even if this downgrades to 3.1.2 the unlock will not work. Baseband will still be at 5.12

    RépondreSupprimer
  4. what did you do different to this restore file? did you change something to make the iphone/itunes think it is 3.1.3?

    RépondreSupprimer
  5. this is 3.1.2 but itunes think its a 3.1.3

    RépondreSupprimer
  6. not work with 3gs 3.1.3 baseband 5.12 :-(
in DFU mode iTunes return error 1600, in recovery mode iTunes return error 1604

  8. you sir are a life saver..again you must be on 5.11.07 baseband for this to work..and the only way that is possible is if you didn't originally restore through itunes..you must have used snowbreeze or redsnow to preserve your baseband..again thankyou sooo much..happy jailbreaking everybody

  10. Is my officially unlocked iphone 3gs downgradable with this firmware?
now i'm using upgraded to 3.1.3.
    Thanks!!!

    RépondreSupprimer
  11. This is no different than a pwed IPSW. If you updated to 3.1.3 using official firmware, you are out of luck.

    Normal mode = Error 1604
    DFU - Recovery = Error 1600

    RépondreSupprimer
  12. Ok,thanks!!!So no ways to solve this, beside waiting the new release from redsn0w or blackra1n.

    RépondreSupprimer
  13. Unless you have SHSH backed up via Cydia, you must wait.

I'm new to this 3G[S] scene, downgrading 3G's from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 is simple.

    In other words, FFFFFUUUU Apple!

    RépondreSupprimer
  14. you are all wrong..if you preserved your baseband to 5.11.07 you do not need shsh files saved this bypasses apple check completely.if you upgraded to official firmware then you will be able to jailbreak with this custom firmware but cannot unlock

    RépondreSupprimer
  15. @trevor you cant downgrade with itunes whatever the baseband

  18. you most certainly can as i have did it with two of my 3gs phones..don't listen to this people..turn your phone off completely hold the home button while plugging into your computer to enter recovery mode and just do a shift retore with itunes and the above firmware this requires no shsh file saves what's so ever..

  30. I've got a 3GS, 3.1.3FW, 05.12.01BB and OLD bootrom. The new file only reboots my phone from recovery mode. Still with 3.1.3 Firmware. It hangs on "Preparing iPhone for restore..." then eventually gives me the 1604 error. Perhaps I should have the NEW bootrom for it to work, or ?

  62. I think trevor is bluffing. He/she have not downgraded to 3.1.2 . I have tried 4 hours with 5 difftent computers. Windows xp 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit . I have even installed some older versions of iTunes without succés . Somthing is blocking the installation. I dont bleave what trevor says, if he/she is telling the truth then why this person is not explaining the process ? Merwan maybe u should continue your work for next release this one is not 100% yet but u are very close!

    RépondreSupprimer
  63. VERY very close. I'm tired of people on other forums saying I'm wasting my time with this, because I -KNOW- this is the way to go! I'd LOVE to be the one to show this to them and say "HEY, look, try, and tell me I was wasting my time again".

  64. with my iphone 05.11.07 i have tested several times, but now it'll take time

    RépondreSupprimer
  65. No doubt. I think the version right before this one was the closest. It actually popped up the window saying that "This will install 3.1.3 and verify with Apple...", then boots the phone, it hangs on the Apple logo, but never get the progress bar on the phone, etc.

    RépondreSupprimer
  66. the file has been uploaded trunk to megaupload

    RépondreSupprimer
  67. Very same result as the last version, didn't boot the phone, just ran into 1604. Went through all the steps for the error mentioned above as well.

  74. Firmware #2 no change in results, just a 1604 error. Firmware #1 is looking good, gives the status of "This will restore...3.1.3...Verify with Apple" Then, "Verifying with Apple"...Hangs on "Preparing iPhone for Restore" then 1604 error, on all USB ports, two different computers.

    RépondreSupprimer
  75. Thing is, after the firmware(s) fail, I use the one from 02/27/2010 at around 3:00 EST, it reboots my phone fine from restore mode. Still doesn't have 3.1.2 on it, but boots it, and eventually gives me Error (1603). That one is so friggin' close! I keep ALL the files just in case.

    RépondreSupprimer
  76. Merwan, WOW! Talk about CLOSE! This actually brought up the restore bar under the Apple logo on my phone, ALMOST restored the phone, and got "Error (6)" Holy CRAP that's close!!!

  81. Indeed we are! Some of the other sites have pretty much given up on people that don't have their SHSH's on file with Saurik. Seems like everyone is content with waiting on George Hotz or the Dev Team to come out with the new jailbreak. I just don't see the point in waiting. Might as well give my time to someone who's willing to work at it now :)

  119. I've had my iPhone for about 8 months and never thought of jailbreaking until now. I have probably spent 15 hours over the last week reading through posts to figure out a way to do it since I have already updated to 3.1.3 with 05.12.01. I have a 32gb 3GS, MC model, with the old bootrom. I am really excited to jailbreak now but I was devistated when I found out the developers aren't going to release a new jailbreak until the next big firmware update. I've never messed with restoring the phone or trying to downgrade the firmware so I'm a little hesitant to try this until it is confirmed to be working.

Merwan, thank you for your continued effort to find a way to down grade the firmware. I don't know if I can be much help but I will constantly be reading this blog to see the newest updates. Good luck and thanks again!

    RépondreSupprimer
  120. Keaton, I'm sure he'll come up with something. I've been trying something similar. All I've really done, is torn apart the 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 IPSW's and making my own "Custom" FW using parts of each. The closest I've gotten was replacing three files from 3.1.3 into my 3.1.2 FW. It loaded PERFECT! Only problem is, it loaded 3.1.3 FW with 05.12.01 BB. I've also done a couple that gave me Error (14) or (13). I just need to figure out how to EDIT the .DMG files. If I had the knowledge on how to edit THOSE, I might have something. Unfortunately, I don't, I'll leave that up to Merwan. I'm really rooting for him, as it seems he's about the only one who's willing to help. Everyone else is aboard the "You messed up, it's your own fault! Now you can wait 'till the new FW or iPhone comes out." train. But what about people like me who's phone got an Error (23) and had to have it REPLACED with 3.1.3 FW and 05.12.01 BB pre-installed? I'll bet those SAME people would be asking for a jailbreak sooner if something like that happened to them.

Thanks again Merwan for trying so hard to help us unfortunate people out, it's VERY much appreciated!!!

  121. perhaps the problem is in the file named 018-6489-023.dmg has a hiden signatur in the SHSH file geted by itunes and stop his update this is second chek make by itunes, the problem is to find this code and replace it.

    RépondreSupprimer
  122. I think you're right. Replacing the either of the other two .dmg files seems to keep it at 3.1.3 or throws an error. Need to find that signature.

    RépondreSupprimer
  123. good progress I see. Signatures of dmg files are generated using... maybe SHA or MD5s? just an idea.

    RépondreSupprimer
  124. i get the same errors as everyone else :(
Firmware B - "Not eligible for requested build"
    Firmware A - Error (1603)

    RépondreSupprimer
  125. same as above.

    B: not eligible
    A: Error 1600/1603

    RépondreSupprimer
  126. Followed the "For Error (1603)" instructions, then tried Firmware A again, no different.

    RépondreSupprimer
  127. After reading about dmg files, I can't do much with them. I'm on a PC running Vista. I guess you need a MAC to work with them properly.

    RépondreSupprimer
  128. You may run a virtual pc with mac OS on it, although it is not legal to do so. there are quite a lot of instruction guides on the internet about this; or u can click me.

    RépondreSupprimer
  129. all .dmg files in firmware are crypted, no way except the devteam or geo but i feel in them a complicity with apple, but keep trying guy

    RépondreSupprimer
  130. I got "Not eligible for requested build on Firmware C" and "Error 1604" on Firmware B.

    RépondreSupprimer
  131. same as mike & hugo~~

    RépondreSupprimer
  134. we try to downgrade the baseband first and then the 3.1.2 its easy to get it to work my friend, i make 3 files 3.1.3 who i put in the signture of the original 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 with multiple switch or permutation betwin the signature, who know keep trying,

    RépondreSupprimer
  135. i'll try them when they are ready

    RépondreSupprimer
  136. just upload i am waiting for your next release

    RépondreSupprimer
  137. Merwan, I'm pretty positive IF you can downgrade the baseband, we could just use the very first file you made. It's just a matter of getting the baseband to 05.11.07.

    RépondreSupprimer
  138. besides baseband, the iBoot version also matters.

    RépondreSupprimer
  139. Indeed, the bootrom would be something to look at as well. Then again, if you're at baseband 05.11.07, Blackra1n will work with the new bootrom on 3.1.2 Firmware.

    RépondreSupprimer
  140. Yes blackr1n should work on 05.11.07 i had it before and worked like à charm

    RépondreSupprimer
  141. FW-II work with my 3gs 05.12.1 but the firmware and baseband are unchanged after restore.

    RépondreSupprimer
  142. that mean the file 018-6489-023.dmg from 3.1.2 who dosnt pass, he passed succefully, ok we go step by step...

    RépondreSupprimer
  143. good news~~~and please keep go on~~~

    many thanks again

    RépondreSupprimer
  144. FW-3 reinstalls the Fw without problem but the firmware version and basband is the same, Have you changed somthing in this file or this is the orignal resotre file ?

  148. hehe, this sounds like it's actually going somewhere! Read entire thread and got to bottom where it says 03:16. I guess everyone took some well deserved rest. Open something comes up to do. It's so weird, I found this page just by chance when I was googling error codes for NOD32! how bizarre! Please could someone text me or email when we have a solution, if it's today/tomorrow. I will come to office and give it a whirl. Got no 3G at home :(

  149. Hey Merwan, Firmware5 hangs on preparing iPhone for restore, then throws "Error 1604". Also, just an FYI...If you put the three .dmg files from 3.1.3 into the 3.1.2 firmware, it will load successfully, but have 3.1.3 firmware. Don't know if you've tried that yet or not, but I did it the other night and that was my result.

    RépondreSupprimer
  150. Fw 5 not working for me. By the way have i missed fw 4 or it was never uploaded ?

    RépondreSupprimer

    RépondreSupprimer
  155. I hope this one Will be the last and succesfull release so we all can enjoy the jailbreak again

    RépondreSupprimer
  156. Mike, that's an interesting find. Maybe that will lead to something. Keep up the good work Merwan.

    RépondreSupprimer
  157. I also tried .dmg's cooked with Sn0wbreeze on a 3.1.3 firmware that lead to Error(s) 16xx, just another FYI. I also got a firmware to throw an error (14) as well, but again, an error isn't the result we're looking for ;) LoL, hopefully something will work soon here. Though, I'm getting used to my unjailbroken phone...*shudder*

    RépondreSupprimer
  158. mike keep this file and make a change in firmware diretorywith original 3.1.3, the problem is not in .dmg's files but in .img3 in \Firmware\all_flash\all_flash.n88ap.production

    RépondreSupprimer
  164. Anyone have a clue how to get around Error 3001? LoL, that's my latest attempt(s) at the custom firmwares I'm fooling with.

    RépondreSupprimer
  165. What version of iTunes you are using. The error message is known as a network failure. It was very common on Itunes 8.1 and 8.2. I feel like iTuens lose touch with specified server,

    RépondreSupprimer
  166. Mine's 9.2.25. Might have to try a different version of iTunes to see if I can get it to work. Then again, with OFFICIAL firmware, everything goes fine. So close, yet so far.

    RépondreSupprimer
  167. I am waiting for your release.

    RépondreSupprimer
  168. I forgot to Ask. Have you tried to add sauriks server adress on host file ?

    RépondreSupprimer
  169. I've been pointed to Saurik's for a while now, yes.

    RépondreSupprimer
  170. What do you use Saurik's server for? I thought it was for restoring old SHSH files that were backed up from Cydia.

    RépondreSupprimer
  171. ive been trying the files with Sauriks address added and without it added always same errors

    RépondreSupprimer
  172. i have iphone with bb 05.12.01 ill hope to find it

  180. Today, it has not happened so much on his blogg. I would be happy to help if you feel the need of it. We have followed this page from the beginning, would have been nice success with downgrading to 3.1.2 before the jailbreak comes out. Today, I am not so keen on a new jailbreak, I'd be more happy if we on this blogg could solve this by the downgrade to 3.1.2

    RépondreSupprimer
  181. i have other iphone 5.12 from my freind, its going to take time...

    RépondreSupprimer
  182. OK! Take your Time merwan. We all are waitng for your release.

    RépondreSupprimer
  183. I think the problem with this way of fooling apple and your iPhone to believe it is 3.1.3 is that you recieve the SHSH file from apple for the 3.1.3 when updating... this file is used by the iPhone to decode the .dmg and .img3 files in the firmware.. Since you recieve the SHSH file ment for the 3.1.3, the files from the 3.1.2 firmware will not be possible to decode with the wrong SHSH.. that is why we get the 160x errors.. The apple server says "Okey, you have the 3.1.3 firmware, here's your SHSH for 3.1.3" Then Itunes sends the firmware and the SHSH to the iPhone, and the iPhone tries to decode the the firmware files with the SHSH, but there's a mismatch and it fails.. I've been looking through the files with a hexeditor and could easily find the SHSH code areas in the .dmg and img3 files.. but I'm afraid if I change these parts of the 3.1.2 files to the same from the 3.1.3 part I will end up bricking my phone when updating.. Still considering risking it but...

    RépondreSupprimer
  184. i'll try it if you make one :)

    RépondreSupprimer
  185. @ Ro9AM
i also noticed the parts, and try to mod my shsh files. i failed in the end.... maybe i use the wrong way to mod shsh. But i still believe that mod shsh is one of the ways to downgrade...

    RépondreSupprimer
  186. I think that itunes check the version of the baseband if inferior to that present on the phone it does not update bb of the phone, but where is this code of version???

    RépondreSupprimer
  187. i do it, when you find respectely HSHS in .dmg and .img3 file and i modified all files in 3.1.3 and in 3.1.2, i have made test with the phone of my freind but nothing, files of 3.1.2 pass with 3.1.3 but bb remains as it is 5.12

I concluded that the baseband has a small signature, we must increment this code in the 3.1.2 and put it in 3.1.3 or 3.1.2. for the of code ShSh I think it's easy to pass it with any ShSh. make search or give help if you can...

    RépondreSupprimer
  188. Just want to say thank you merwan for your hard work!!! I know you are on to something big! Keep working on the shsh files, I am a jailbreaking guru who recently had to get a replacement phone, of course 3.1.3, 5.1.2, new bootrom. I will continue watching this site and if you crack this thing I would like to donate! Good work and good luck!

  189. Merwan, so you were successful in downgrading to 3.1.2 but with 5.12.01 baseband? I am interested in jailbreaking my phone but I don't care about unlocking it because I am on AT&T. Would it be possible to jailbreak with 3.1.2 if it had 5.12.01 baseband? Thanks and good luck, you're doing an awesome job.

    RépondreSupprimer
  190. Yes, you can jailbreak 3.1.2 even with the 05.12.01 bb, can't unlock(Which I know you don't need, neither do I). Just trying to GET to 3.1.2 that's the problem LoL.
